Gamelog privacy policy

Effective September 28, 2026

Gamelog is built to keep your game history on your own device. There are no Gamelog accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what leaves your phone and why.

What stays on your device

Your library stays in Gamelog's storage on your iPhone. That includes games, statuses, ratings, notes and drawings, play dates and platforms, cover images, and settings. It is not sent to the developer or anyone else. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

If you choose a cover photo, Gamelog saves a resized copy of only that photo. It cannot see the rest of your photo library.

Requests to Steam

To find games and show cover art and patch notes, Gamelog requests public information directly from Steam (steampowered.com and steamstatic.com). These requests include the game you search for or the game's Steam ID. Like any web request, Steam receives your IP address. Valve's privacy policy covers how Steam handles those requests.

Optional: Sign in with Steam

If you choose to import your Steam library:

  • You sign in on Steam's own website. Gamelog never sees your Steam password or Steam Guard codes.
  • Steam tells Gamelog's server your public Steam ID number. The server gives your phone a sign-in token, which is stored in the iPhone Keychain.
  • When you import, the server asks Steam for your owned games, play time, last-played dates, and public profile name, and sends that list to your phone. The server does this because it holds the Steam Web API key, which must not be built into the app.
  • The server has no database. It does not store or log your Steam ID or your game list after answering the request.

The server runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes network information, such as IP addresses, to deliver requests, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Signing out of Steam in Gamelog's Settings deletes the sign-in token from your phone.

Sharing, export, and import

Gamelog sends data elsewhere only when you ask it to. Sharing a game uses the standard iOS share sheet, and you choose the recipient. Exporting creates a file or clipboard text that you control. Importing reads only the file or text you pick.

Beta testing with TestFlight

If you test a beta version through Apple's TestFlight, Apple shares some information with the developer: the name and email address you were invited with, your device model and iOS version, install and session counts, crash reports, and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send. This information is used only to fix problems and improve Gamelog. Apple's TestFlight terms and privacy policy also apply.

Children

Gamelog does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
